The Georgetown Steam Plant
The Georgetown Steam Plant was built in 1906-07 and was designated a National Historic Landmark in 1984. This is one of two vertical turbine generators. Within a few years, the turbines were considered obsolete. (Benjamin Benschneider / The Seattle Times)
